2026 Mercedes CLA.

The red car at the bottom is the CLA Concept we saw a few months ago. The concept was an EV with a range of over 460 miles. And so far, it looks like Mercedes is having quite a bit of trouble making the production version as good-looking as the concept. Which, while being pretty modern wasn’t anything that futuristic to begin with.
While the concept was also a preview of a new Mercedes platform called MMA, the reproduction prototype has very different FWD-based proportions. Just like the current generation. Speaking of the current generation, it is shown in the 3rd photo and seems to look much better than the new one. The bottom photo is the first generation from 2014.
In 10 years, there seems to have been very little progress in the design of the Mercedes CLA. Which is sad indeed. I do like the current generation and think it’s a pretty car in real life. The concept was pushing the envelope a bit. But so far, the next generation seems like a step back from both the concept and the current model.
Unlike the concept, this doesn’t seem to be an EV. However, there is still talk of an EV version being available. Something that could also be competing with the brand’s upcoming new EQC EV sedan.
Things seem to be more and more confusing at Mercedes. So many models overlap, and yet they all look the same, year after year.
At least it looks like we won’t have to wait long to see the new CLA since it will be unveiled in just a few days. Again, just don’t expect anything as dynamic as the concept…
