2026 Polestar 5.

Last Updated:

Polestar is taking its sweet time with the Polestar 5 sedan. I guess SUVs had to come first, with the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.

The top photo shows a prototype driving around in Europe with zero camouflage. And we can see how close it is to the patent image we saw back in 2022. Yes, that’s June 2022. Almost 3 years ago.

The new EV sedan is also based on the Precept Concept from 2020. And yes again, it’s been about 5 years. That is a very long time to turn a concept into a production car. And thank God the design was so great, and it won’t look old at all when it comes out.

Polestar already showed us a few “official’ spy shots of camouflaged prototypes almost 2 years ago, mentioning the car will have up to 700HP. Which seems to be the new normal these days for high-end electric cars. After all that time, the Polestar 5 is still not really “around the corner” since it has been scheduled for the second half of 2025.

Later will come yet another SUV. A smaller one than the Polestar4 is called Polestar 7.

I actually can’t wait to see the new Polestar 5 sedan in person. A refreshing sight after all these SUVs. And another nail in the Tesla Model S coffin. The Model S is currently priced at $80,000. Let’s hope Polestar can find a way to price their new sedan for a little bit less. (You can find a 2024 Model S with under 10,000 miles for under $60,000 these days…)

The Lucid Air is also a bit cheaper starting at $70,000.

  1. I kind of like the styling – it looks fresh to me. But can anyone actually see out of that really sloped rear window??

  2. It’s hard to tell if this model will have a rear window or not based on the photo. The P4’s lack of a window may turn off many people.
