These most recent spy shots of the new 2026 Toyota RAV4 confirm that Toyota has indeed come up with an all-new design for their best seller.
While the general shape seems a little bit softer, some details actually look more angular. Like the lower part of the profile and the area ahead of the rear wheel. As we noticed before, the rear end is much more upright in the new model.
The design will still be familiar to owners of the current model around the world.
The new Toyota RAV4 is also rumored to be a new hybrid-only model in North America, with an updated PHEV model with a longer EV range as an option. That EV range is rumored to reach 75 miles in the Japanese test cycle. Which would still be above 55 miles EPA. That would be quite an upgrade from the current 42 miles.
Toyota has mentioned that all-new 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter engines would replace the current 2.5-liter engine in their future hybrid powertrains. It seems that a 75-mile EV range could only be the result of something more efficient than what the currently used. Maybe one of these new engines will be ready for the 2026 RAV4.
An updated and “better” RAV4 will no doubt stay extremely popular around the world.
Will it be unveiled in NY auto-show next month?
The show starts next week. So far the RAV4 is not on the schedule.
does anyone else look at the camo’d pic and see the same basic hardpoints of the body as the camo’d Subaru Outback?

Grrrr…. What is taking them so long. They need to update & change out the older & bloated Highlander, but that can’t be done till RAV4 is done. Ahhh. So much anticipation.
