Genesis X Grand Coupe & Convertible Concepts.

Last Updated:

With these 2 new concept cars, Genesis is basically re-inventing the Mercedes S-Class Coupe and Convertible.

The 2 are obviously based on the large Genesis G90 sedan. At first, they seem like straight 2-door conventions of the G90 sedan we’ve seen for a couple of years. But they’re not. When you compare the coupe to the sedan, you can see they are completely different cars. Even the front end looks 100 times better with a new, much narrower grille. (Maybe a G90 mid-cycle facelift is coming up?)

However, the interiors of the concepts seems very similar to the one in the sedan, and that’s a good thing. Since Genesis has not installed the generic screen we now see on all their new cars.

what seems very similar ris the wheelbase, which now looks pretty huge on a 2 door far. And seems to give the convertible back seats tons of room, which is quite amazing.

Here is how the cars are officially described by Genesis:

“The front ends of X Coupe Concept and X Convertible Concept are adorned with Genesis’ characteristic Two-Line headlights, which extend toward the iconic Genesis Crest Grille. The 3D grille meshes are inspired by woven metal strings arranged in diamond-shaped Two-Line patterns.

The wide lower air intakes with sculpted grille meshes emphasize the sporty character of the vehicles, while the elongated hoods create a dynamic silhouette. The widened Two-Line headlights extend to the fenders, visually enhancing the increased track width.”

With only 1500 units of the G90 sedan sold last year in the US, it is highly unlikely to see a coupe or a convertible version ever being produced.

And that’s really too bad…
