The new 2026 Toyota RAV4 is being introduced right now and here are early pictures.
A predicted, it is new yet very familiar. Making sure Toyota doesn’t loose repeat customers. The whole thing seems more angular, especially inside.
Another thing that was predicted, is the Hybrid Only powertrain. Which follows other Toyota models like the Camry and Sienna. Toyota claims the EV range of the PHEV model is now 50 miles. And DC fast charger is now available. The regular Hybrid is still powered by a 2.5 Liter engine, now with 23HP more for a total of 226 in FWD and 236HP with AWD. The PHEV trim produces a total of 320HP.
The GR Sport (Woodland in the US) is a brand new version for the new 2026 Toyota RAV4. One of these top of the line more expensive trims with a more off-road look that is popular these days. The RAV4 GR Sport comes with the PHEV powertrain and AWD. Besides the small visual changes and the special 20 inch wheels, the GR Sport doesn’t seem to have more off-road specs than other RAV4 models.
It really looks like Toyota’s goal was for the new generation to look as like the previous one, as much as possible. While giving current owner the feel of something all-new. Which will probably work.
However, I’m not sure people who were not interested in the RAV4 before would change their minds this time around. As it still looks like something that could have come out 5 or 10 years ago. And has basically zero personality.
The current generation was a drastic visual change from its predecessor, while this is just more of the same…
Probably a best seller again.
