VW ID.Golf.

Last Updated:

VW‘s EV plans seem to be constantly in flux. And it has become quite hard to guess what’s coming up and when. However, it seems a new EV version of the VW Golf is indeed still on its way.

There is still a rumor about the next-generation VW Golf being an EV, and only an EV. Although that might still change. The new Golf is rumored to be the first EV model to use the new SSP platform, instead of the recurrent MEB.

A sporty GTI model will, of course, be available. With RWD. And an even sportier R version will come with AWD. Just like the good old days.

First, VW will introduce the 25,000 Euros ID.2 model. Still using the MEB platform and previewed by the ID. 2All concept. Then, of course, the even smaller and cheaper (20,000 Euros) production version of the ID.Every1 concept will come out. And then the new Golf.

After the Golf, a brand new ID.4 generation is scheduled, also based on the new platform. However, by that time, VW might be using “regular” names, like the ID. Golf. And the next ID.4 could maybe become the “ID. Tiguan”. Or something…

The illustration above shows what an ID. Golf could look like. Pretty much looking exactly like what the Gold has looked like for over 20 years now.

Let’s hope VW does better. Much better.
