2026 Volvo EX60.

Last Updated:

Just a few weeks ago we saw a photo of some guy lifting up the cover of a Volvo EX60 EV SUV in a video presentation of the ES90 sedan. Now we get a couple of shots at those rear lights. And, have no fear, they do look like your average Volvo tail lights.

Just like the new Volvo EX90 is not replacing (yet) the aging XC90, the current XC60 will be sold alongside the new EX60 for a while. The XC60 got a few improvement for 2025, and the new EX60 will, as sual for EVs, be more expensive. With a projected base price of around $60,000.

The EX60 will be a very important new model for Volvo and will be the first one to use a brand-new platform called SPA3. That platform is so scalable it can actually be used for cars smaller than the current EX30 to something larger than the EX90. That means it will probably end up being used on all, or at least most new Volvo EVs soon.

The new EX60 will be a 5-seater SUV about the size of a Tesla Model Y. However, since Tesla drastically reduced its pricing, most of its competition is actually much more expensive with similar equipment. The current Model Y starts at $45,000 for the long-range RWD model. AWD currently adds $3000 to the price. Both models are loaded with everything. While a Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited (loaded) is over $53,000. Same thing for the new Honda Prologue Touring.

Volvo has recently slightly revised its EV goals. Going from 100% EV by 2030, to 90 to 100% and including EVs as well as PHEV models.

A new EX60 EV will be competing with the production version of the BMW Neue Klass SUV and a new electric Mercedes GLC.
