Buick Electra E5.
Last Updated:

The Buick Electra E5 EV came out in 2023. It is so far a Chinese market product only. Even if GM keeps mentioning Buick will be getting an EV model in the US as well.
After 2 years, the Electra E5 is getting a mid-cycle refresh. As you can see, the front and rear ends have been redesigned, as usual.
But the main change is apparently a switch to a new “Ultium 2” platform. A newer version of the Ultium platform is capable of 900V using new CATL batteries. Now the revised Buick EV can charge much faster and add 217 miles in just 10 minutes.
The revised Electra E4 range is expected to reach up to 373 miles. (Which is actually a bit less than the previous version).
While there is no news about a new Buick EV in North America, it makes you wonder if this “Ultium 2” improved platform will make it to the US. Since GM is using the current Ultium platform for so many models across multiple brands. And more to come. Like a new Chevrolet Bolt “Family”. One or two new Cadillac EV sedans and probably more.
