2026 Honda Prelude.

Honda has just released a few bits of info on the new 2026 Prelude Hybrid coupe.
These are mostly for the Japanese market, where the new Honda will be introduced in September.
As you can see, the color choices are pathetic. Even worse than Tesla. Besides the usual black, grey, and white, only red is offered as a color. Things are not much better inside, but at least you can get something other than all black.
The Japanese market will get a limited edition trim with a black painted roof on white cars. There seems to be no sunroof available on this new Honda Prelude. A cool feature that was always not only offered, but standard on all previous generations.
The rear seats are barey there. They look more like a storage shelf than actual seats. However, there are seatbelts… But so far, this looks more cramped than the last Civic coupe from a few years ago.
At least, the fastback shape hides a real hatchback. That means the new Prelude will be quite a practical car for 2 passengers with the rear seats folded down. The hatchback is also an odd choice for a Prelude since all previous generations had a classic coupe shape.
Honda seems to have already marketed the Prelude as a true sports car. Something it doesn’t even need to be. I think a sporty coupe getting around 50MPG is attractive enough for many. How many? That could also be a problem.
The Civic coupe was canceled for a good reason: people weren’t buying them anymore. The new Prelude is basically a Civic/Integra coupe with a Hybrid powertrain.
We’ll see…
