2026 Subaru Uncharted.

Last Updated:

Another day, another weird name for a new car. After the Mitsubishi Destinator, meet the Subaru Uncharted. Which sounds more like a Star Trek title or prop?

Just like the Solterra and Trailseeker, the new Subaru Uncharted is basically a Toyota product. The main difference is the redesigned front end. Which seems very similar to the one on the Solterra and Trailseeker. These are mostly the same vehicle in 3 different sizes. Just like the 3 Toyota clones.

It is especially true of the interiors, which have the exact same design. The only difference is rear legroom. Toyota is probably saving quite a bit of cash by using the same interior design in 6 different vehicles. At least so far, since who knows, there might even be more coming…

For some odd reason, Subaru, the AWD specialist, will offer a base FWD version with 221HP of the new Uncharted. One that will allow them to claim an EV range of over 300 miles on a charge. Even though most models sold will have AWD with 338HP and a 290-mile range with 18-inch wheels. However, some models are also available with 20-inch wheels.

It will be available in Premium (FWD), Sport, and GT. I guess this will be the sporty Subaru EV SUV millions have been asking for…

All trim levels of the new Subaru come with an All-Weather Package, including heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer; power rear gate; interior ambient lighting; and DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System. The Uncharted Sport adds X-MODE® Dual-Mode with Grip Control, heated steering wheel, StarTex® water-repellent upholstery, panoramic view monitor, and more. Uncharted GT will include a panoramic moonroof with motorized shade, 20-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, Harman Kardon® premium audio system, smart rearview mirror, and more.

Again, this is so close to the new Toyota C-HR EV that it is hard to tell why anyone would get this over the Toyota. And vice versa. I guess it depends on dealership, incentives, etc…

It seems that with 3 new models that are basically clones of Toyotas, half of Subaru’s lineup is not real Subarus. At least they don’t look as bad as “real” Subarus, which is something positive.

The Subaru Uncharted goes on sale early next year. Nothing about price yet…

  1. Subaru definitely needed help sorting out some technology, like hybrids, entertainment, and BEVs. But Toyota is going to be the death of this brand if they dont stop forcing their badge engineered cars on them,

  2. Why would the Subaru be available in FWD while the Toyota is only available in AWD? Who is making decisions at Toyobaru?! Don’t they understand their brands??
