2027 Chevrolet Camaro.

Rumors about a new Chevrolet Camaro have been around since before the last generation was canceled. There were even talks about a “Camaro sub-brand” for a while. However, according to Motor Trend, an all-new Camaro is on its way. As a competitor to the popular Ford Mustang Mach-E.

That would mean an electric powertrain, 4 doors, and a hatchback. With a higher body style. Something many Chevrolet Camaro fans will hate, just like Mustang hardcore fans hated the Mach-E. But the “regular”, good old V8 Mustang is still around, and these vocal fans don’t seem to buy it. Ford and GM are running businesses that actually need to make money in order to stay around. And these V8 muscle cars just don’t sell anymore.

Ford sold around 47,000 Mustang coupes and convertibles last year. And only 27,780 so far this year. While over 56,000 Mustang Mach-E EVs were sold in 2024. The loud Camaro fans didn’t buy the Camaro either.

I bet GM wouldn’t shy away from another 60,000 or more sales of a new sporty EV using a famous sports car name. Like “Camaro”. The new car could end up as a more stylish EV than anything Chevrolet offers today. A Camaro EV would also be able to produce amazing power and speed in high-end models. Since the Blazer SS is already producing 615HP in a larger and probably heavier car.

The illustration above shows what a new Chevrolet Camaro EV could look like.

As for the Mustang Mach-E, the current generation was scheduled to end production in June 2026 and switch to a new, redesigned model. One that would also include a “Coupe SUV” body style. Similar to what Audi has been doing. However, it seems that it might have been pushed back.

  1. With sooooo many names to pull from its history, GM really needs to rethink this strategy if they release a crossover-Camaro. Enthusiasts were pretty darn critical of the current Blazer being a crossover instead of a hardcore SUV. They’ll be even more so if the Camaro turns into a crossover as well.

A hatchback, 2-door muscle car? Heck yeah. Like the new Charger, it would increase the vehicle’s practicality tremendously. Just don’t make it as massive and heavy as the Charger is.

  2. Why not call it the ChEVelle, and hightight the EV for electric, why tarnish the Camaro name?

  3. The “enthusiasts” will get over it, just like they got over the Camaro being discontinued and the Blazer as a crossover.

  4. I don’t like that look nor trying to crossover or blend …🗣️ Ppllzzz no EV’s👎🏽 natural aspiration V8 👍🏽👏🏽

  5. A hangup I have about the Camaro. I like the second gen, but it’s like only first gen dirivatives matter. It’s personal to me like baby boomers and others born after 1954 don’t matter . Never have, and now just another ever slicker first gen dirivative. Also, Chevrolet should grow up and stop the stop and start business with Camaro, as if to see what Mustang is doing to pretend they one-upped them.

  6. Please bring the camaro back not an ev ot cross over I have a 2016 2SS and I love it would love a nother one but you stopped making them hope you bring them back but no ev

  7. Please bring the camaro back not an ev ot cross over I have a 2016 2SS and I love it would love a nother one but you stopped making them hope you bring them back but no ev or crossover you should of never stopped making them it was an awesome car

  8. Car companies are greedy. They are pricing the average person out of the market. And then they wonder why cars dont sell. A new car for $60k-$100k Who can afford this?

  9. I dont buy Chevrolet anymore after there 6.2 motor and transmission problems anyways who wants to pay a fortune for junk. Been a life long chevy guy but no more, I’m all about Toyota now. I could care less what they build and what they call it. Its all junk

  10. I checked it on an “is this image ai” website, says it was more than likely ai. Disappointed, we need people who do this to get moderated

  11. Looks ok and maybe better than the last Camaro. The biggest problem is you road to close to the floor with awful visibility. The 4 door electric also seems likeable. What stands out is will it pass the crash test? Looks to me that it would break into a million pieces if it hit something. Kinda like a Vette.

  12. Chevy make good engines but they are constantly destroying the body styles of their lineups. Look at the Mustang body style right on and so did Dodge. They completely ruin the Camaro name and its styling of the car. Trying to make the Camaro look retro like Dodge and Ford has fail. Only thing I can say is Chevrolet make good powerful engines but fuck up body style.

  13. I almost bought a new Camaro several times. What held me back was practicality. I could deal with the compromise in gas mileage for a V8, but what I couldn’t compromise on was the trunk space. I want to be able to fit my road bike in the vehicle to not have to worry about it for long trips, parking lot at work, and other locations. It’s a huge part of my life and it just didn’t fit…
Sea suckers and other external options go against the point of the car, and don’t provide the security required for me. So that was the killer for me…

  14. Looks like Chevrolet is desperate to keep up with Ford in the EV market. In my opinion, get rid of the body style. Resurrect the 2022 to 2024 body style. Have good quality engines beginning with the 5.0L small block V8 in the 1LS.Then middle entry styling goes to the 5.7L V8 in the 1SS. Then of course top of the line is your 6.2L V8 in your 2SS and Z/28.These 2.0L 4 bangers don’t hold up performance and value like a good ol fashioned V8 would.

  15. They need to bring back the 8.1 big block it’s one bad ass engine lots of power very reliable

  16. GM – General Misery has run amuck. Case in point? GM can’t or won’t build a engine worth its salt. 6.2 anyone? Quality has gone down the tube. GM’s CEO isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.

  19. I’ve had 8 Camaros and currently have a 2023 , a 4 door is an abomination to begin with and the price is going to be expensive. With tariffs affecting the auto industry you’ll probably be paying $40,000-$65,000 for this. Nobody is gonna pay that. The Camaro was overpriced that is why it was selling so poorly trust me I know from experience. I got a bargain because the dealership had to get it off the lot.

  20. They’re right GM f***** up when it comes to muscle cars when they built 69 and 70 and 1/2 Z28 those were the muscle cars people enjoyed the ride the muscle and the way they sounded and they looked awesome I hope the GM gets their s*** together they’re losing a lot of sales good luck

  21. Mary Barra needs to step down she is killing the heart beat of America. Bring the Camaro back without the hatchback and the electric motors. We don’t want electric vehicles. It’ s like Harley Davidson pushing the live wire nobody wants it. Get a new CEO.

  22. Dodge and ford just went thru this and they both lost. I cannot believe that Chevrolet is going to take an iconic name like Camaro and run it thru the electrical MUD. This is a Major mistake.they need to go back to big GAS engines and do it right but I guess they all have to learn the hard way. All of them have already priced there selfs out of 10s of thousand sales but instead of worrying about that they want to ruin an iconic name plate. Wow

  23. It looks like a Godzilla stepped on my Toyota Highlander. It looks extremely unbalanced to go fast.
