Hyundai Ioniq 2.

All of a sudden, it seems prototypes of the all-new upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 2 are everywhere. And so far, it looks really good. It could be yet another winner for Hyundai.

The best part is that it doesn’t seem to look, at least so far, like a smaller Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 9. While these two look great, it is wonderful to see a manufacturer rejecting the “same design/different sizes” tired philosophy of car design.

The spy shots show a very “coupe-like” shape. Something very similar to the new 2026 Nissan Leaf. However, it seems even more radical with the rear window almost flat. (The illustration on top is actually quite wrong and doesn’t show that obvious design feature.)

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been pretty popular in the US so far. With almost 45,000 sold in the US alone last year. The Ioniq 5 has been widely praised by journalists and owners alike around the world. And current leases starting at just $179 will probably keep the momentum going into 2025.

There is plenty of room under the Ioniq 5 $42,600 base price in the US. With so many new sub-$40,000 EV models coming out, like the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt, the new Nissan Leaf, Kia EV3, and the new smaller Hyundai Ioniq will face some stiff competition by the time they come out.
