New Ford pickup truck patent.

These images are actual Ford patent drawings showing a new tent accessory for a new Ford pickup truck. One that looks suspiciously like a new EV truck…
It obviously doesn’t look like the Maverick. And its proportions, with an A-pillar pushed over the front wheels, are very reminiscent of what an EV truck based on a new specific EV platform would look like.
The drawing showing the front end also doesn’t look like anything Ford currently produces. Which means these images might be our best look yet at Ford’s all-new EV pickup, based on the California-designed new low-cost platform. Something that at least shows a pretty modern design for a pickup.
But the coolest part seems to be the actual subject of the patent, which is the tent accessory. Not only does it show Ford will be pushing the new EV as a lifestyle vehicle, but it seems very clever. And very well integrated into the truck’s design.
Although the best could also be to have folding rear seats and a cab over the cargo area. Which would allow for camping inside the truck itself. Still, the tent’s design seems great and could free up a huge amount of the cargo space under it for other stuff.
Ford promised a $30,000 price to start. Back in 2022, the expected base price for the F-150 Lightning was around $40,000. That base price quickly went up to over $52,000. (It now starts at $55,000).
That $30,000 price could be a different story by 2027.
Still, that tent seems really cool…
