Ford Off-Road Sports Car.

Last Updated:

There is a new rumor about a future high-end off-road Sports car from Ford coming. These illustrations show what it could look like. As a 2-door coupe as well as a 4-door Crossover. (just in case…)

You know there’s something going on when Ford CEO Jim Farley mentions the brand wants to be “the Porsche of off-road”. The rather oddball statement is pretty vague and could mean a lot of things. But one thing is for sure, it means “expensive”. And probably “sporty” as well.

Mr. Farley made that statement a few weeks ago and he obviously knows what’s cooking at Ford. Now we hear they might actually be working on an off-road sports car. He even mentions a “supercar”. “That’s what we’re trying to answer. What do we do on a utility car? Is there a supercar? That’s what we’re debating now.”

It sounds like it’s been “debated” for a while and they might be working on something. Something they don’t really need. Ford needs a more precise and realistic view of its future. It seems all they’re interested in is new and more macho cars. Like claiming the Mustang will never go EV while the new Mustang just had its worst year ever. It was even beaten by the Mustang Mach-e EV.

Or the crazy Mustang GTD. A “supercar that looks like a regular Mustang with a bunch of super cheezy add ones for $300,000. Who is this for? Who in the world will spend Ferrari money on a Ford?

An Off-road supercar seems like another dumb idea and something maybe a few hundred eccentric wealthy macho nerds would buy.

How about a Hybrid Bronco and Bronco Sport? A better and more attractive Escape? Or more EVs? Yes, more EVs. At least something to keep up with Kia, Hyundai, or GM. We keep hearing about that cheaper new platform with a crossover and a pickup coming. But nothing so far…

It just makes you wonder where Ford will be in just a few years…
