New Ford affordable EV SUV.
Last Updated:

Ford has been working on an all-new more affordable EV platform. One that will produce a compact SUV and a smaller pickup. The company has been describing the project as a “Skunkworks platform”.
This is now Jim Farley describes it: ““We were very ambitious with our advanced electric architectures applying to ICE vehicles, not just advanced electric architectures for EVs.We brought that all together in FNV3. It’s a great move for the company. Our zonal electric architecture is now going to be delivered on our CE1 Skunk Works product. I think this is a major learning for the company, that we could do it at a lower price point than FNV4 as well.”
The new EV platfom is set to be used for a couple of new “low-Cost” Ford EVs. Which will be a smaller EV pickup and of course a new SUV.
From the official image above it really looks like the new SUV model will be quite “Bronco-like”. Or looking like a Bronco Sport EV. Which could be what they end up calling it.
Ford seems to be focusing on the Mustang and Bronco lineup these days. Or so they claim. These are cars with personality. A new compact Bronco inspired affordable EV could become a big hit for the company. It could even compete against rhew upcomig Rivian R2 and R3 and an even lower price point
The illustration above shows what a new smaller affordable Ford EV SUV could look like.
