New Cadillac EV sedan.
Last Updated:

We have known for over a year that GM is working on 2 new Cadillac EV sedans. The illustration above shows what one of these models could look like.
Apparently, there wouldn’t just be one sedan but at least two. Which has been described as a “new generation’ of Cadillac sedans. These would of course replace the current CT4 and CT5. All we know about the new models is a “Sportback profile”. Which sounds much more modern than the current CT4 and CT5. And maybe something close to the Cadillac Escala concept. Finally.
The limited production of $340,000 Celestiq is of course not part of that plan. As these would be real cars people can actually purchase in realistic numbers.
The 2 sedans Cadillac is reportedly working on would be the size of the CT5 and CT6. The current CT4 is pretty much at the end of its cycle and isn’t selling well at all with fewer than 7300 sold last year. While the CT5 is more popular with over twice as many sold the same year. That explains the 2025 “facelift” and the new curved screen investment in the CT5, and nothing for the CT4.
Replacing the CT5 with a new roomier EV would help Cadillac compete against Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. While the larger EV sedan could go against the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S.
A new large Cadillac sedan would have to impress without being a weirdo like the Celestiq. And it would have to look expensive, unlike the EQS. A very modern interior could still include retro touches and wood. (Maybe a bit too much on the illustration above)
Both would be based on the revised version of the recurrent Ultium platform called BEV3.
New Cadillac sedans are always good news in my book. However, I am sure I’m not the only one who is waiting for a truly modern interpretation of the American Luxury car as an EV. This time, a sedan. Or two…
Cadillac used to be unmistakable in appearance. Now it’s just another look alike car on the highway. My favorites are the 57-58 Coupe Devilles and the 67-70 Eldorados. Does anyone have a nice 58 Coupe Deville for sale at a reasonable price ?
You know you’re old when all the cars start looking the same lol
I have admired Cadillac form the 70s. I fell head over heels for an Eldordo with the diamond in the back ,sunroof top with a person standing up waving as they passed through my neighborhood. This car had the whitewall wired wheel tires and it was painted in my favorite color a special deep blue/ black color sounds ugly but to a young girl it was beautiful. The inside was blue and white with black shag covering on the dashboard. I loved looking at this Cadillac long and beautiful. I saw myself driving one someday. This Cadillac Ev will be waaayyyyy out of my reach unless I hit the Lottery. Seems Cadillac sets a standard of who could and should own one not for a soon to retire person like me.
