Next-generation Ford Focus.

There is a new rumor going around in Europe about a possible new generation Ford Focus appearing in a year or two. And of course, it would be an SUV.
Or at least some crossover-type vehicle. Which I guess is what’s been happening for years now. Even the good old low and sporty European Ford Capri coupe became a 4-door SUV last year. At least for the European market only and our delicate eyes have been shielded from witnessing the blasphemous event.
The rumor mentioned multiple types of powertrains. Including Hybrid, PHEV, and even EV. Which seems to eliminate the possibility of the new small Ford using that new Low-cost EV platform we hear so much about. However, during the official presentation a few weeks ago, for showed different shapes of future vehicles that could use the platform. And at least one of them looked a lot like a 4-door hatchback. Like the Focus.
At the same time. Ford still has a deal with VW to develop more EVs in Europe. Just like the Explored EV and the Capri EV. A smaller model has been rumored for years, which could very well be the Focus. Except that would be an EV-only model. So I guess not…
Ford doesn’t really have a new non-EV platform to use for a compact crossover these days. They are about to kill the Escape, and its replacement will use the new EV platform. Maybe something based on the Bronco Sport? But that’s pretty old for a 2027 model. However, the rumor mentions that the new model would indeed be based on Ford’s older C2 platform. Just like the Escape and Bronco Sport. And ironically, the current European Focus (ending production next month) is also based on that same platform.
That would mean the next generation wouldn’t be an all-new vehicle and a cheaper way for Ford to keep the Focus alive. With a choice of more modern powertrains and a Crossover shape.
Something they could even bring over here as an even cheaper alternative to the crop of new affordable EVs they’re about to launch in North America. Why not…
