Nissan Ariya dead.

In a surprising move, Nissan has just decided there will be no Nissan Ariya available in the US for the 2026 model year.

That means you’d better hurry if you want one and get some leftovers from 2025.

Which is really too bad.. While the Ariya had never been as popular as EVs from Hyundai, Kia, or GM, it had gotten good reviews. And an increasing following. Nissan sold over 11,200 of them last year in the US alone. With even more so far this year.

Of course, these numbers are boosted by discounts and very low monthly lease payments. Just like all new EVs. And the crazy tariffs don’t help the bottom line either.

I guess it was just too much for Nissan, which is having a pretty hard time right now. The launch of the new Leaf will cost money, something it can barely afford. Even though it has gathered many great reviews and is proceeding right, Nissan has already announced that only around 500 new Leafs will come to the US every month.

That’s only 6000 units a year, or less than half the number of the Ariya.

All I can say is: good luck…

  1. This is shocking yet not shocking at the same time. Nissan is in survival mode. They will do anything possible to save money and stay alive. It might be too little too late for them….

As for the Leaf, the 500 units a month allocation is supposedly only temporary (first few months) due to a battery supply issue. You conveniently left that fact out for some reason. Once that gets sorted out, I’m sure allocation will be ramped up as demand warrants.
