2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Concept
Last Updated:

The current Toyota Corolla Cross came out almost 5 years ago, and today we see a new concept based on the brand’s popular compact SUV.
The Corolla Cross just got a welcome mid-cycle refresh that improves things a bit. But it is still basically the same boring-looking design that came out 5 years ago. And yet, it seems a few outdoorsy bits do improve the look a lot.
I guess if you make any SUV look more like a true off-road vehicle, things look better and even cuter. And that’s the case with the Toyota Corolla Cross.
The Nasu Concept will be shown at the upcoming Sema show next month, of course. It wears a cool purple wrap that changes color as you move around the car. The fenders have been extended, and skid plates have been added. The powertrain isn’t new and uses the 2.0 Liter Hybrid unit available in the production version.
Since Toyota will not sell the new Land Cruiser FJ in North America, I really think they could offer this over here and make some serious extra money. The off-road look works really well on the Corolla Cross, and many would pay the extra thousands to get something that lets their neighbors think they are more adventurous than they really are.
This would be a quick and easy way for Toyota to finally make the nerdy-looking Corolla Cross a cool vehicle.
A no-brainer in my book…
the real issue would be the suspension. These Corolla Cross have either the trailing link (which is terrible) or the hybrid’s multi link, which is better but still not great for anything resembling even very light offroad duty. It does make it look better though.
