2028 Toyota Corolla SUV.

These illustrations show what a new coupe Crossover based on the next-generation Toyota Corolla could look like.

Apparently, it is already internally called “Project 913D”. Hybrid as well asd PHEV versions are planned. And the new model would be sold in South America as well as Europe. That would be another compact SUV added to an already crowded European Toyota Lineup. Which currently includes the Yaris Cross, the Aygo X, C-HR, and Corolla Cross. On top of the RAV-4 and BZ4X.

In the US, Toyota will add 2 more EV SUVs in addition to the 2026 BZ. I haven’t heard of a new Hybrid SUV based on the next Corolla for the North American market, but why not? Since it seems there is no end to the SUV expansion…

  1. They have a Corolla SUV. Its called the Corolla Cross, which is a global model. Its not going anywhere, and we’ll have to deal with its ugliness for years to come.

  2. They could call it the Corolla Cross Sport, but I don’t think this would work in the US. They tried this with the last Venza, which was basically a nicer coupe version of the Rav4, but it didn’t sell enough.
