2026 Nissan Ariya.

Last Updated:

Nissan just updated the Ariya EV for the new model year. And it looks much better than I thought it would.

The bad news is that Nissan just canceled the Ariya for the US market a few weeks ago. That means this good-looking EV will not make it over here at all. Which is really too bad. The Nissan Ariya had become more popular this year; however, most of that regained popularity came from huge discounts and super-low lease payments. This was also the case with the Ioniq 5 and others. It seems these other brands were strong enough to take the hit and even offer more rebates this month or drastically lower prices, like the 2026 Ioniq 5.

No info yet on any other improvement for the revised Nissan Ariya. But improvements in battery with an even better EV range are probably expected, at least.

The new front-end design makes the Ariya look more like the new Murano than ever. And the new Leaf as well.

  1. Nissan will likely feel more confident launching a larger EV model (Ariya or Ariya replacement) once solid-state batteries make electric vehicles more cost-competitive with internal combustion engines. However, by discontinuing the Ariya, the upcoming Leaf won’t address consumer demand for all-wheel drive.

  2. Nissan is barely hanging on by the skin of its teeth and has had to make tough decisions to remain alive. With the current turmoil they can’t afford to launch the new Leaf and keep the Ariya going at the same time. The Leaf is the more important vehicle and they’ve chosen to focus on getting it out the door and into showrooms for sale. Everyone keeps talking about out the Xterra for 2028, but Nissan might not even make it to 2028 without more decisions like this one.
