It sure looks like Audi will get a brand-new small EV next year. One that will probably be based on the new VW ID. Cross or the ID. Polo. Although it does look like it is more visually related to the VW ID.3.
From what we have already seen in many spy shots, the new Audi will look much sleeker than its VW cousin. And almost futuristic. The spy photos of the new Audi did show the usual big Audi EV fake grille they have been using gon other models like the Q4 e-Tron. However, in these photos, the grille looked like it was part of a clever camouflage. It was also uncovered, which is strange. Just as if they really wanted us to believe the new car will have that old grille.
Otherwise, the spy shots show a surprising amount of the general shape of the new EV, and the illustrations above seem pretty realistic. Except for the front end.
This won’t be the first time Audi has produced a small A2 model. They already had one from 1999 to 2005. A car that, of course, was never sold in the US.
They could have done so much more for this car since it has that modern profile. The front and back look like they had a bag of old dicks to throw out and stuck them to this car. The key word: old.
I love this body style. Seems incredibly practical. That front end won’t win any awards though.
