Hyundai Ioniq 5 test drive coming up.

I personally think the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most interesting-looking cars around these days. It reminds me a lot of the work of my favorite car designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro, especially what he came out with in the 1970s and early 1980s. It just looks like a futuristic version of the first-generation VW Golf, or what the Golf should have become after all these years.

It is also a car that has been gathering a lot of praise around the world from tons of reviewers.

By now, we are all familiar with the specs of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The one I am driving is a fully loaded Limited trim with RWD. It is also a car that I am actually leasing, so I will be able to do many updates over time and report multiple times about what it’s like to live with an Ioniq 5 for an extended period, instead of the usual week-long experience.

There is a noticeable difference between the Limited and the other trims. It seems that the SE and SEL models are pretty basic trims, and somehow Hyundai keeps deleting features from the SEL year after year, while the Limited comes with everything.

So far, the car has been a pleasure to drive both around town and on the highway. It is also, like many have noticed before me, quite a bit larger in real life than the photos or videos suggest.

One thing I really appreciate is how relaxed and quiet the car feels in daily driving. The electric drivetrain makes everything smooth and effortless, especially in stop-and-go traffic. Acceleration is instant but never feels aggressive unless you want it to. The RWD setup gives the car a nice, natural balance.

The interior is another strong point, and the cabin feels very spacious. The Limited trim adds a lot of comfort and tech features.

The range has been more than sufficient for my daily use so far. (more onthis in the upcoming review)As usual, I will answer any questions you might have about the car.
