2027 Lucid Cosmos Preview.

The all-new Lucid Cosmos will be the brand’s biggest bet yet. Just like the new Rivian R2, the Cosmos is set to take its brand to the next level:main stream.

Just like Rivian, Lucid makes expensive cars. Their new SUV starts at around $80,000. While the Lucid Air is more affordable than it was, it still starts at over $70,000. Just like everyone else it seems, Lucid needs a sub-$50,000 Crossover. At that price, the completion is huge. We’re talking about tesla, Rivian, Hyundai and pretty much everyone else. Except legacy luxury car makers like Mercedes or BMW.

The Cosmos will be unveiled before the end of this year. And will be built in Lucid’s new factory in Saudi Arabia, at first. A few months later, most US cars will come from Lucid’s US factory.

The computer images above were obviously done from a recent leak of official patent images for the Cosmos. And they look pretty realistic to me. I guess Lucid might add some chrome trim, or not. Otherwise it is probably really close.

The design seems really modern and a completely different path from the Rivian. This doesn’t try to look like an off-road vehicle at all. This looks like what it really is, an urban upscale crossover. Something a bit sportier looking. Inside, the Cosmos does’nt seem to have the really cool curved screen from the Lucid and Gravity. And outside, the giant futuristic windshield also seems to be missing. Or maybe it could be due an option.

The new Lucid Cosmos is based on an all-new platform, jut like the Rivian R2. It will also be getting a new lighter and more efficient  powertrain called Atlas.

We will see the real thing later this summer and I can’t wait. Let’s hope Lucid can financially survive to put this thing together and produce it in decent numbers.

  1. The first picture is a new Infiniti crossover. What? It’s NOT? Now I’ll never get my name on a building like Vince …
