A New RAM Ramcharger SUV Coming for 2028.

Stellantis has recently mentioned yet another new model that is less than 2 years away. This time it will be sold by the RAM brand and called the Ramcharger. Which was the name of an old Dodge SUV sold 1974 to 1993.
Anything can happen between now and 2028, especially with a group like Stellantis. But so far, the new Ram Ramcharger (borderline stupid name?) will be based on the current Jeep Grand Wagoner. A huge awquard looking truck that looks pretty ghastly every time I see one. Which is usually as a rental car.
The RAM brand was created back when Sergio Marchionne tried to kill the Dodge brand, but still wanted to sell the very profitable Dodge trucks. I personally think Dodge trucks are a much better name than RAM, but here we are. Now RAM will finally get a proper huge SUV.
It will also probably be a bit cheaper than the Jeep version. Which now starts at $65,000. A Chevrolet Tahoe starts at around $61,000 these days. And Stellantis expects the Ram to be more popular.
This will not be an EV. It will be offered with good old-fashioned V8 gas engines. But a range extender version will also be available. Something the Jeep Grand Wagoneer already offers for the 2026 model year.
All I know is, again, that 2028 is a long time from now in the automotive world. behind the times.
However, it seems there will always be a market in North America for these huge gas-guzzling SUVs. Even with gas prices higher than ever and still climbing. Go figure…
