What If the Next Chevrolet Corvette Had Four Doors?

For decades, there have been rumors of a roomier 4 door Chevrolet Corvette. GM was even floating the idea of a complete Corvette sub-brand for a while. Not that long ago, after they launched their first Ultium models. Now, it seems no one is talking about a new Chevrolet Corvette sedan. And yet…

While there has been no new word on such a blasphemous vehicle being planned, it would pretty much follow what Porsche did years ago with the Panamera and Cayenne. And especially the Taycan. A 4-door electric Porsche. It seems that an upscale 4 door version of the next-generation Corvette could be a profit bonanza for GM.

And yes, adding 2 doors to the Corvette would be seen as the ultimate automotive blasphemous move. Although there has been many. A Porsche SUV was also seen as a sacrilegious at first. So did a Bentley SUV.  And many still have a big problem with the Mustang Mach-e. But a high end 4 door sports car would be a gig ticket item. One that could be very tempting for GM

Maybe, just like some future EVs these days, the idea of more body style for the Chevrolet Corvette have been pushed back for a while. And not really canceled altogether. This is what we just learned about the Nissan and Infiniti EV sedans. They have just been pushed back a few years.

A new 4 door Corvette could still look good and quite impressive if done well. And lets really hope the design of the next generation is cleaner and classier than the current mess.

No matter how many doors it ends up having…

  1. This looks ghastly! Whoever did this needs better AI prompts. Maybe use Claude rather than Chat GPT. Nothing close to looking like a Corvette model. Just because AI can render something realistic doesn’t mean it is anything close to what a real designer would do.

  2. Next “Vette” needs to be a one off, 2-seater, Raptor killing, off-roader. No joke.

  3. I agree that the styling of the current Corvette is a mess. Lines going everywhere – with zero cohesive flow. It’s a real design disaster.

  4. Chevy developing a 4dr BASED on the Corvette is a bad idea. I have no problem with a 4dr supercar, but it should have its own design and bodywork – and be called something else. Call it a Beretta, Corvair, Impala…. just not a Corvette. Its own name. It would likely need to be tuned to be more bump-compliant for use as a 4dr or the backseat passengers will be >suffering<. The Panamera and Taycan both took this route and they weren't named 911's, but notice they didn't start with a rear engine vehicle which is overall a poor starting platform for a 4dr.

  5. I don’t think the current Vett is a mess at all. Perhaps the wall of buttons was the issue at first, but GM replaced it will a much nicer look.
