Next-Generation Toyota Corolla Wagon Preview.

Toyota showed a concept version of the all-new next generation Corolla a f ew months ago. Just a few weeks ago we saw a few leaks from Toyota showing a production design heavily inmspired by the concept. The images above shwo what a wagon versionb of the next Corolla could look like. Since there will be one. As the Corolla Wagon is still sold around the world and is quite popular in many countries outside North America.

The new 13th generation Toyota Corolla is rumored to be introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Which does make sense, since that’s where the current Prius and Camry where introduced. And no, we won’t see the wagon version in L.A.

The next Toyota Corolla will be offered as a regular ICE model, but also as a Hybrid, PHEV as well as a pure EV model. Which is quite an amazing move from Toyota. basically covering every single powertrain type currently available in a single model (Except for Hydrogen).

It has been reported for a while that the next Corolla will might introduce a new Hybrid System using a new 1.5 Liter engine. The new Engine might not have a Turbo in the Hybrid version. Toyota claims the engine is about 10% smaller than the one it replaces, while delivering better fuel efficiency and increased performance. That combination should help the Corolla stay competitive in a segment where efficiency numbers matter more than ever. That could also mean the next Corolla will end up being more efficient than the Prius. Which is terrible news for the Prius which is currently suffering with a serious case of the “dropping sale numbers” disease. .

The Toyota Corolla has been one of the best-selling cars in the world for decades. The current 12th generation debuted back in March 2018. In the U.S., sedans are not as dominant as they once were. Crossovers and SUVs now lead the market. And Corolla sales aren’t as high as they were during peak years like 387,000 units in 2006 or 378,000 in 2016. Still, the current Corolla remains surprisingly strong. Almost 250,000 units were sold in the U.S. last year alone. That’s quite impressive for a model that first appeared in 2018.

It will be very interesting to see whether Toyota decides to go “full hybrid” with the next-generation Corolla in the U.S, and skip the basic ICE powertrain all together. If that happens, the Corolla could enter a completely new chapter.

With a new Hyundai Elantra, a recent Nissan Sentra, and an upcoming new Civic, the compact sedan segemtn is getting quite exciting.

This is the curernt, and still good looking, Toyota Corolla wagon.
