New Honda SUV Spied: Is This the Next HR-V?

These new spy shots are showing an upcoming new or redesigned Honda SUV, but which one?

It seems most people think it’s the next CR-V. SOf course, it could be. The current generation was unveiled at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto show. However, the current HR-V was introduced about 6 months earlier. Logically, a new one would come out first.

I personally think that if the pictures above indeed show a new Honda Crossover, it would be the next-generation US model HR-V. The current generation HR-V line was split for different markets, with the North American model being a specific, larger design. Sold in a few other markets as the ZR-V. While Europe got its own model. Which is smaller.

On the second photo, the rear window seems to be totally covered by a black plastic camouflage. Or that could just be the angle of the photo. The main issue I have with these is the general shape seems to look like anything else on the road. Which as been a Honda trademark for years. And a sad one. I guess it won’t look like the current model, wich is something. As a CR-V or HR-V.

The curent HR-V has never be a great looking vehicle. Even when it came out. It doens’t even look like a Honda at all. And yet, it has been quite a hit for Honda, with almost 150,000 units sold last year alone in the US. Crushing the Toyota Corolla Cross (which sold under 100,000 units in 2025).

Most people don’t really care what their cars look like these days, and I’m sure the next HR-V will be an even bigger hit for Honda. Especially if it is based on their new platform that will be introduced in the next Civic. Which could include a Hybrid powertrain on the HR-V.
