The Next Honda Civic Could Finally Get the More Modern Design It Deserves.

The popular Honda Civic is scheduled to be an all new model very soon. Either as a 2027 or as an early 2028 model. It will be based on the same new Hybrid platform as the equally new 2028 Acura RDX hybrid. Honda did show a new Hybrid Sedan Prototype a while ago as well. Which could be a preview of the Civic, or even the Accord. But it is now beleived that sedan prototype.was a preview of the upcoming Honda Crosstour.

The next-generation Civic could look quite different from the Crosstour/Sedan prototype. While keeping many of its design cues.

A brand new Toyota Corolla is due next November in the US. As it will show up at the Los Angeles Auto Show. And it might very well offer a hybrid powertrain as standard equipment, just like so many other current Toyota models these days. This could push Honda to offer teh new Civic with a standard Hybrid powertrain. After all, they have been calling the new platform a “New Hybrid Platform”.

The new Civic Hybrid system is expected to bring a 10% improvement in MPG. Which would bring it up to around 54MPG combined on the Civic. The new platform is also lighter by up to 200 pounds, and is engeneered to offer AWD. However, that might only be offered on the Crosstour model.

Cost is also rumored to shrink, which is good news for Honda. But not for the rest of us. We’ve recently seen Honda deleating features like rear seat vents and plugs to save a few bucks on the current Civic.

The images above show a more mainstream design for the next Civic sedan than the Hybrid Sedan Prototype. The real thing coul dmaybe look a bit better and more original. Since it seems Honda is actually only designing a modern looking Civic every 2 generations. After the super conservative curent model, it is about time for something much nicer and more modern.

Wouldn’t that be nice…
