2027 Chevrolet Trax Preview.

The second-generation Chevrolet Trax came out almost exactly 4 years ago, and it’s time for a refresh. As you can see, the 2027 model will get a new face and new taillights. At least….

The current model does have slightly different front-end designs, depending on the trims. The illustrations above show an RS model with its redesigned front end. The current yellow car above shows what the Activ model looks like for 2026. Besides the front end, the rear end has been completely revised. Almost giving the 2027 version a new personality.

Some changes are also expected to the interior, although they were really not needed at all.

I test-drove the Chevrolet Trax a few years ago and was, like most, pretty impressed. Especially for the price. This really should be a serious consideration for anyone looking for a new car under $30,000. However, it doesn’t even offer a hybrid at all. Or AWD, if you need it. Most people don’t need AWD, and I think it’s OK for an inexpensive car. But GM is really missing out by not having a hybrid version. And, as a matter of fact, by not having any hybrid model available in the US.

The 1.2 Liter engine with 137 is actually fine for most uses. And does get pretty good MPG. Of course, a hybrid getting over 50MPG would better compete in today’s market. And yet, 2025 was its best year ever, with over 206,000 of them sold.

With numbers like these, I guess GM doesn’t see the point of investing in a Hybrid version.

Which is too bad…
