Alpine A310 Vision Concept.

Many new stunning concepts are currently being introduced to the press at the 2026 Paris Auto Show. I especially like this new Alpine A310 concept. Since I always liked the original design from the 1970s, this one does feel pretty special.
The original A310 came out in 1971 and was produced until 1984. It was a more upscale car for Alpine and yet had only 125HP at first. An even cheaper model was introduced a few years later in order to boost sales, with only 95HP!
The car was restyled (although not completely redesigned) in 1976, and fitted with the new PRV V6. Which had been designed and engineered by “Peugeot/Renault/Volvo”. Since all 3 companies really needed a V6 to compete. That V6 also ended up in the DeLorean.
Of course, a new V6 meant more power; however, it was just 148HP. And sales immediately doubled.
The Alpine A310 saw very low production numbers through its life. Only 120 units were produced in 1971. However, things went up to 1381 units in 1979 for the V6 model. And down to 663 in its last year.
So, not a popular car, but a very cool one. Now Alpine is trying to compete against Porsche, and a new A310 is the perfect car to do it.
Alpine revived the A110 in 2017, and it has been quite a success, with over 26,000 sold worldwide so far. At 65,000 Euros to start, it’s far from inexpensive, but Alpine thinks it needs something even more upscale to compete. And a new A310 could be just the ticket.
A couple of years ago, Alpine kept mentioning over and over how they wanted to enter the US market in 2027 with all their new EV models. That has, of course, quieted down since, and we don’t really know what the plan is now.
Plans for a new A110 EV are still on track for 2027 in Europe. But US plans have probably been pushed back by a year or two.
