2015 Hyundai Genesis
Last Updated:
We have seen it before, but these are official pictures of the all new Genesis.
Looking much better than the 1st generation.
Engines are similar, with both the 3.8 Liter V6 and 5.0 Liter V8 still being offered. Both with an 8 speed auto.
They say everything is “real” inside. Real wood, real aluminum trim etc…
So far so good.
Its not stunning, but being better than the 1st one, it is still an amazing value.
The current model starts at around $35 000. Much less than the $45 000 Lexus GS.
(I am not including BMW or Mercedes in its competition. As people who buy these cars almost never consider anything else.)
More on this car very soon.
Vince, the 3.8L engine will NOT be offered in the US but the 3.0L twin-turbo engine will be instead (along with the 5.0L version). This turbo engine is all-new and reportedly produces 333hp and is for "US only" – I do not know why. Also, the all new 10 speed transmission was projected for the Genesis sedan but there has been a delay in its development and is scheduled to be included in the next Equus and the Genesis coupe.
It doesn't look 100% generic anymore. Maybe 70%? Still, I wonder how it might compare to the Impala. I know they're a different class of vehicle entirely, but this would tempt me.
I like the new interior, but like the last gen exterior better.
I guess it makes more sense to buy this than to buy one of each of the three competitors this style is based on.
Reviews of preproduction model suggest a more refined driving experience and lots of body roll. It looks very nice in photos. Tthey will offer one with sporty aspirations as well.
Why is this hallucinating pseudo insider above talking about a twin-turbo? Here is the truth straight from Edmunds:
"Like the current model, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis will offer a standard 3.8-liter V6 and an optional 5.0-liter V8."
A bit of class c on the front.
Looks very good!
