2011 Dodge Avenger

Last Updated:

Again, a huge improvement inside.
This now looks like a great place to be.
The old interior was one of the worst in the industry. Amazing they could change it that much.

I also noticed the door is similar to the open door picture we saw of the new Chrysler 200. I wonder if the interiors will be the same…

But outside it is still a nightmare. The front end, the whole thing screams cheap and dated.
I don’t think the new V6 and the great interior will save this car.

it’s time for Chrysler to bring over some of these great Italian designers, pronto…

  1. If they made these changes and drop the price a few grand it may sell, but seeing there are sooo many better buys out there, ud still be a fool to buy one of these ! and id deff wait at least one year before i buy any new engine, penstar sounds hot on paper but it could be a real turd…

Yea, better buy a Passat, Accord or Camry then you KNOW you got a turd. With Dodge you might just wind up with a 275HP/ 30MPG machine that runs as good as that new interior looks — THEN what do you have to complain about?

  3. An improvement. Yes. But then again a turd with two lumps of sugar would be an improvement. I had the misfortune of driving the 2009 Avenger for two weeks while my car was being repaired and I couldn't get rid of it soon enough. What a pile that car was. Hard plastic everywhere. Terrible fit and finish. Wimpy engine that got poor gas mileage. What a package!

    Chrysler, just die.

  4. what an id diot chrysler wil rea teach all these foreigners that america makes the bes tcars again this is one of many g reat amerc an car the new avanger is such a t tke ,ew fhj k

Kidding right? Poor resale value, everyone who finances these things will be upside down in no time. A car that looks like it came form Enterprise rental and even wrent a Wreck renal fleets. These are the biggest turds out of many done in the USA. They are such a turd, there's corn in the friggen trunk and nuts inside driving them!

  7. Hard plastic everywhere. (GONE! See the photos here?) Terrible fit and finish. (GONE! Go sit in a 2011) Wimpy engine that got poor gas mileage. ( GONE! 3.6 DOHC for starters (other new super-high MPG powerplants to follow) What a package!–AGREED!

Chrysler, just die. ( I think you mean Be BORN AGAIN! — And they are– AND THEN SOME!)

Resale? Like anybody with a brain would buy a 1-10 yr old "SUDDEN ACCELERATION" Toyota with hit-N-miss brakes and shoddy electronics. Honda, Nissan & Hyundai/Kia only look their best when compared to Toyota.

My neighbor has an 8-yr old Dodge & a 3-yr old Honda. He spends more annually just on TIRES for the Honda then he spends on ALL maintanence for the Dodge — and they put more miles on the Dodge each year. He just collected $7000 (net) by sueing Honda for POOR QUALITY! So which would YOU give him $6000 for: The 8 yr old/ 107,000 mile Dodge? -or- The 3-yr old 20,000-mile HONDA? (This is an I.Q. test–and a sucker bet for Honda-o-philes)

  8. He likely spends more on tires because he beats the hell out of the Honda with a big grin on his face…the Chrysler? Not so much.

I'd be curious to know when you sat in this car?

Does anyone know when this / the 200 launches?

    What a horseshit story, guy.

He sued Honda for $7,000 because of "poor quality"?

    Yeah, okay.

I am not a Honda fanboy in the least (Ford guy), but I'd take a Honda over any Chrysler product in the lineup.

BTW, I sat in a 2011 Grand Cherokee, and while improved a great deal, it still had fit and finish issues with some cheaper materials.

  10. He sued Honda for $7,000 because of "poor quality"?

It was a Civic Hybrid. (There is QUITE a history with problems on these Hondas, so if it surprises you at all– you haven't done your "due dilligence".
    1) Tire noise is EXCESSIVE. We're talking much much louder than the tailpipe rumble on a V10 Viper. To me (The Honda) sounds like an unbalanced washing machine at 55 MPH.
    2) Tires that last 40k-80k miles on a Hyundai, Ford, Camry, Stratus, etc. are only safe to about 20k on a Civic Hybrid. (they get bald fast!)
    3) He won $4k for repair bills excluded by Honda's great warranty and another $3k for time spent driving to & from the Honda dealer for repairs (at minimum wage). Didn't ask for punitive damages (although most people would have).
    4) Another person where I work has the same car, a year newer, and the same problems: noisy tires that consistantly wear prematurely and a buffet of "quality glitches". Were not talking french stitching that looks like it was done by hand; nor do we mean there's a lot of plastic-looking plastic inside (which there is). We're talking mechanical & safety issues that are way beyond any biased opinion of the cosmetic surfaces.

I think there's even a few web sites dedicated to owner complaints about Civic & Accord.

You don't really hear ANYTHING bad about the Dodge Stratus except for styling — which is totally subjective! (And personally I think it's styling has way more character than the generics from Toy, Honda, Suburu, Volvo & others)

And even after winning the suit — he's STILL "UPSIDE DOWN" in
"Resale value" with his Civic. Even Honda dealers don't want it!

WAKE UP! It's not 1989 anymore!

If you buy a Toy or Honda without first driving this new Stratus–then you're obviously got more bias than brains!

  11. He likely spends more on tires because he beats the hell out of the Honda with a big grin on his face…

More likely the Honda beat the hell out of him. And that's not a big grin on his face– it's just the impression left when his face hits the Honda Steering wheel!

  12. So Chrysler has resorted to hiring fan boys to troll the message boards…. Either that or a decent improvement on a crappy car suddenly means that all Chrysler products are now demigod and every other manufacture is garbage

  13. I seriously don't understand how all these posts are claiming that this is a great car….nobody has driven one yet; all we've seen are pictures and the car was a complete POS to begin with.

Lets hold back saying that Chrysler is 100% awesome and everyone else sucks (namely Toyota / Honda) until there are some non-baised reviews of the car. Yes, Toyota had a BRUTAL year last year for PR – however by and large, their cars (namely Camary) – while boring are still ranked higest amoung the industry for quality / etc. Lets also NOT forget that Chrysler cars have by and large been brutal – and scored near the bottom of the lists (Seebring / Avenger AT the bottom).

Don't get me wrong – I really hope these cars are fantastic – and the tipping point for a Chrysler resurgance (they've done it before) – I really do!

However, I'm not about to throw away my keys on my 2000 Accord w/ +250KM's on it (with not a single issue) for a reskined Avenger or Seebring (aka, 200) – until there are solid indications of quality. I think the majority of car owners would say the same thing.

  14. A total joke is someone that stubbornly refuses to admit that mabey they're wrong.

If you haven't driven A 2011 Dodge Avenger (new engine, new suspension, different tyres, new interior, new lights/facia (front & rear)–then you don't really KNOW what you're talking about, do you?
