More on the new 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe
Last Updated:
And more pictures too, where it looks pretty stunning.
The extended brake light/rear deck spoiler is a cool idea. But I’m not sure how practical it is.
It could easily get damadged. And how awkward is it to open that small trunk with this thing sticking out…
Still. A really good looking car.
Here is what they say :
“Art And Science: Cadillac Premieres 2011 CTS-V Coupe
-New CTS Coupe design combines with V-Series performance
-556-hp (415-kW) supercharged 6.2L V-8
-Six-speed manual or six-speed automatic with paddle shift control
-Magnetic Ride Control and Brembo brakes
-New Saffron interior trim accent color
-On sale in early summer
“The CTS-V Coupe marries our most potent and sophisticated technology with our most dramatic production design,” said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager. “This combination of visual and technical attributes is designed to create a very compelling choice for luxury sports car consumers.”
The CTS-V Coupe begins production this summer. Its suite of technical and performance elements includes Magnetic Ride Control, racing-bred Brembo brakes and an available automatic transmission with paddle-shift control.
The V-Series Coupe includes a unique grille that doubles the car’s air intake volume, an important enabler for its high-performance capabilities. It is also visually identified by a raised center section of the hood that provides clearance for the supercharger, as well as specific front and rear fascias. Like the CTS Coupe, its exhaust is centered inside the rear fascia, but with unique twin outlets. The car rolls on 19-inch cast aluminum wheels, available in either painted or polished finishes, and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 performance tires.
The CTS-V Coupe’s rear track is nearly an inch wider than the CTS-V Sport Sedan, adding to the car’s aggressive stance and enabling an extra measure of handling capability. The current CTS-V Sport Sedan has quickly established itself among the world’s highest performing luxury sedans, becoming the first production four-door on street tires to break the legendary 8-minute barrier at Germany’s famed Nürburgring. The new V-Series Coupe’s sleeker shape and slightly lower mass ensure a similarly high level of performance.
Inside, the 2+2 cabin combines performance and luxury. A new Saffron interior trim color is offered, with contrasting microfiber seat inserts and stitching on the upper trim areas.”
The CTS-V Coupe employs the LSA 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine also found on the CTS-V Sport Sedan. Rated at 556 horsepower (415 kW) and 551 lb.-ft. of torque (747 Nm), it is the most powerful engine offered in Cadillac’s history and propels the CTS-V Coupe from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
A pair of six-speed transmissions is offered in the CTS-V Coupe: a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual with a dual-disc clutch and a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic with paddle-shift control. Performance Algorithm Shifting is part of the 6L90’s programming and provides a performance-oriented shift pattern during sustained high-performance driving. As with many Cadillac models, the driver needs only to slide the shifter into the manual “gate” to put the transmission into that more aggressive mode.
it's interesting how this car's design is so widely admired in the states, whereas here in Australia, the design of this and the CTS sedan has been near universally panned as an "ugly brick".
Australia isn't universally known to be a valid critic of anything regarding style, but it did a fantastic job on the 2010 New Year fireworks display.
Stick to what you know.
I love it! Gorgeous!
I'm still not a big fan of that front air dam but other than that, this car looks freakin' awesome and is gonna go like stink.
My god this is sexy. Would it be too much to offer a convertible? When it's time to trade my S4 in, probably at the end of the year, I am going to give this a test drive. The extra 216hp should be a total rush.
No offense to Aussies, but not everything needs to look like the same VW turd shape that all the Germans and others are so good at pushing.
I love the Caddies, and yeah… stink moves real f'n fast.
Not to my surprise, I recently read in Consumer Reports that the CTS sedan is highly rated , but its reliability is much worse than average. Way to go GM.
"I recently read in Consumer Reports that the CTS sedan is highly rated , but its reliability is much worse than average. Way to go GM."
I had to read this for myself, as every other quality report has been very complimentary toward the CTS. The CTS was reviewed against other luxury cars like the TL, ES, Infiniti M, the E-Class, the Audi A6 and the Lincoln MKS. In this report, the CTS beats all of them except for the Infiniti M. Seeing as the buying public has rejected the Infiniti, I guess the CTS is the real winner. And since Consumer reports is more qualified to test dishwashers and Camrys than they are testing enthusiast cars, Consumer Reports can be disregarded completely.
"I recently read in Consumer Reports that the CTS sedan is highly rated , but its reliability is much worse than average. Way to go GM."
reliability is also "much worse than average" in the BMW "M"; Mercedes "AMG"; "Chrysler 300 SRT"; and any true sports cars in the "over $80,000 / under 4sec (0-60)" catagory. These are not Accords, Civics, Camrys or corollas. And they aren't purchased by 60-year old lady's that never go over 55 and have the oil changed every 3000 miles. As usual; Consumer Reports shows it's prejudice for profiling.
It's a little like looking at accident statistics and concluding that you're more likely to get killed in a BMW M5 than you are in a Honda Fit. Nothing could be more misleading.
CTS in other words is a clunker. Old farts are driving Cadillacs, because they have money to waste on repairs. Way to go GM boys. I am expecting your response after you check with your PR department.
The recent Buick designs are much more attractive than Cadillac's. Buick has a much better chance of shaking off the "oldie" stigma.
"And since Consumer reports is more qualified to test dishwashers and Camrys"
-I disagree completely. I bought their "Top Rated" / "Best Buy" / "Best Predicted Reliability" dishwasher. After having the service guy fix &/or replace parts 3 times in the first 5 months; my attorneys convinced the Mfg to tear it out and get me a whole new one.
Consumer Reports isn't qualified to test ANYTHING!
They have NO IDEA how RELIABLE ANYTHING they "test" is (if you can call a consumer SURVEY a real "test") Those guys are more prejudiced & BS-opinionated than the carmakers themsleves!
Needless to say my next purchase (car or whatever) will not be influenced by a bunch of editorialists that can't even analize a dishwasher properly! — let alone a vehicle!

Where have you been living? Under a rock? The only Caddilac that is an "old farts car" is the DTS, which is going away. Their big sellers, the CTS and the Sclade, are very popular among people in the age groups of 30-50. If you think that's "old" you must be fifteen.
Everytime I see this car I think AMC AMX
If they could only find other places for the windshield washers and satellite antenna.
I saw this car at the LA and then the San Diego auto show (along with the wagon). The coupe was on a stand, so we couldn't sit in it (we could with the wagon).
From the looks of things in person, this car is AWESOME!
