Lincoln Continental Sedan.

Last Updated:

I posted an illustration of a possible future Lincoln Continental Mark IX Coupe a few days ago. The one above shows what a sedan version could look like. While Lincoln has probably no plans for anything but SUVs in the near future, a 4-door sedan would still have a better chance of making it than a large 2-door coupe.

A new, truly large 4 door Lincoln Continentlal could also be a worthy replacement to the popular Town Car. Without being a stretched Ford Mondeo.

For many years, the Lincoln Continental was synonymous with American Luxury. The Big Lincoln was quite an event when it came out in the early 1960’s. The Continental went on for decades through many generations. Until they decided to become an SUV-only brand.

Lincoln had announced a new large EV SUV for 2022 a few years ago. As we know, it hasn’t happened since Ford keeps delaying their large EV program. But it still might later. Whatever platform they end up using could be used as well for a new large sedan. Just like Cadillac will soon come up with 2 new luxury sedans based on GM’s Ultium platform.

If they don’t, Cadillac will keep beating Lincoln over and over. And Ford might finally claim no one wants a Lincoln anymore and just kill the brand.

Let’s hope Lincoln is secretly working on a new big sedan. The Town Car wasn’t that unpopular when it was canceled in 2011. It was actually selling better than the Navigator back then. Sure, SUVs have gotten more and more popular, but the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air have proven there is a market for a super modern luxury sedan.

One that reminds people of Lincoln’s glorious past would surely find an audience. However, I’m afraid Ford’s current management might not be the right one for that job.

  1. That rendering is drop dead gorgeous. Too bad it is never going to happen.

  2. That car is stunningly gorgeous. I have owned Lincoln Town cars and Marks in my lifetime and I would definitely purchase one as my last car in my retirement if Lincoln was to come out with that gorgeous sedan. Most beautiful Lincoln I have ever seen

  3. These concepts show vision but that’s all. Other manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, Kia/Hyundai and German automakers produce their concepts or at least elements of the concepts while American automakers just use the concepts as internet fodder. Once GM, Ford and Chrysler lead, now they only follow as “unreliable, overpriced” automakers with no actual plan to regain market share. The American consumer would support a robust effort but none have been shown. Actually Chinese auto makers are positioned as the next auto maker super power. Too bad for the Americans… again.

  4. Ok different area: imperial chrysler you illustrated could u reillustrate but use the rear tail lights from the movie Logan. Notice tail lights from the limo he was driving in the movie. I think they were considering something similar. Ps the lincoln sedan would look nice.

  5. To get a good luxury sedan now, you look to Genisis. All a little pricey. Ha.

  6. I owned a Towncar and loved it. I’m tired of Lincoln teasing us with gorgeous halo prototypes they never build. If you build it they will come. Otherwise you will follow Jaguar, Chrysler, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and similar makes into obscurity and then death. At least go out with a bang.

  7. A car like that offered in a collector’s series like Bill Bliss and others, would dominate sales!

  8. If Lincoln would offer a sedan more cars would be purchased. Senior adults prefer sedans; they are more comfortable, more stylish, etc. I currently have a 2022 Nautilus, it’s ok but would certainly prefer a sedan. I hope Ford doesn’t stop manufacturing Lincoln.

  9. I have a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 2017 Lincoln Continental Reserve 400hp AWD, with all of the bells and whistles (it would’ve been a Black Label, but the “Cappuccino” interior wasn’t available). It’s a beautiful and phenomenal car. I love to see Lincoln put out a Town Car sized Continental, but unfortunately I’m guessing that all we’re going to have in the near future is online renderings. Oh well.

  10. I had a 99 Town Car until a deer took it out in December of 2022. I replaced the ball joints and exchanged the rear air suspension with Strutmasters coils. The ride was a bit firmer but it handled like a dream! The factory sound system was cassette tape and CD changer in the trunk. I loved that car.

  11. I agree with everything that was said before me I own BMW 740 I supposed to be there flagship car and to buy a new one a $60,000 SUV has a nicer interior than what they offer in the 740 which makes no sense to me. It’s like they don’t want people to buy that car same thing with a Cadillac. I would buy the Escalade and the Fleetwood tomorrow and they show them being made in 25 but when you call them, they say they’re not even thinking about making them yet it’s beyond me you know I wanna buy a car and I can’t find one I wanna buy

  12. I buy that car tomorrow if it was available the same thing with BMW Cadillac all of their flagship cars they don’t even make them anymore. I have a 745 BMW now and a new one I’m limited on what they offer in a $60,000 SUV has a nicer interior than the 740 I doesn’t make any sense it almost twice the cost. It’s like they don’t wanna sell those cars. I don’t know. Cadillac is the same way. They show all these nice cars but they don’t build them.

  13. Please bring back the Lincoln Continental with suicide doors. Old body with new technologies. We long for it.

  14. Lincoln with their lineup of 4 boxy, boring Milk Trucks will be China-only by 2030.

  15. A new grand Lincoln Continental be wonderful so would the Cadillac El Mirage which could have been the coop that they had plus cut it into a convertible and stretch it into a sedan Buick also had a concept car that they showed about 3 years ago that was absolutely stunning also let’s get Lincoln Cadillac and Buick on a roll to go after Mercedes BMW Lexus and Genesis

  16. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Maserati, Genesis and even Lexus as well as Tesla and Lucid are desirable because of their sedans and coupes. COME ON USA!!!!!!!!
