Honda Civic Hybrid test drive video.

Last Updated:

Just a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a brand new Civic Sport Hybrid from Honda to drive for a whole week. The new Hybrid powertrain is basically the best one you can get on the Honda Civic. The eCVT works great with it and it has plenty of power all the time.

Of course, you get the added bonus of an easy 55MPG in normal driving. However, nothing is ever perfect, and the Civic Hybrid is not either. The new front end does nothing to improve an already very conservative design. In my totally unprofessional opinion, the interior design seems to age pretty quickly too. The cheese grater air vents aren’t a new thing anymore and they’re also used in most current Honda models. No more Sirius radio is still a problem. Although not as much as the lack of height adjustment for the front passenger seat.

The deletion of rear seat USB plugs in the back seat is also inexcusable and hard to understand. Besides some obvious cost-cutting reasons. And there are still no air vents for rear passengers.

Let’s hope the next generation Civic can fix all these rather small problems. But especially, offer a more inspiring and attractive design.

Please join me and watch the short video, and tell me what you think…

  1. that mileage is impressive. btw – the blank button by the mode selector is where the auto shutoff is for the regular gas engine model. That’s not used in the hybrid because… well, its essentially electric to start and the gas engine is automatically governed.
