It sure looks like the next-generation Kia Seltos will adopt the current Kia design language. You know, the one that turns every new Kia into a smaller version of the EV9. It does seem to work for Kia most of the time time However, on cars like the new EV4 sedan, it looks quite…ghastly…
Sales have not been that bad, with almost 60,000 of them sold in the US last year alone. However, I am not sure why, I must have seen only 2 or 3 since they came out, back in 2019. I guess they’re not that popular where I live.
In the usual Kia/Hyundai fashion, we have already seen plenty of spy shots and illustrations of the new Kia. I guess we might not have to wait that long to see the real thing. Although the new Telluride is due out first.
Apparently, the 2nd generation Kia Seltos will be available with a Hybrid powertrain, which will probably make it even more popular. The current model only offers a 2.0-liter or 1.6 1.6-liter turbo. And no Hybrid option. The new Hybrid will be Kia’s most affordable Hybrid model in the US. And will use Kia’s next-generation Hybrid powertrain. That new powertrain is rumored to use a new 1.5-liter engine. It has also been reported that the next Seltios could also have an e-AWD option.
The next Seltos is also expected to switch the the same platform as the Hyundai Kona. That means it could be a bit larger and roomier as well.
Vince, you’ve seen lots of Seltos, but they didn’t register.
My only recollection of the Seltos was waiting at a red light reading “Seltos” on the blob ahead of me. I can’t remember what it looks like even when I’m looking at it. It’s that boring.
