2026 Honda HR-V.
Last Updated:

Last January, Honda introduced their plans for the 2025 year. Which, they said, would include a CR-V Trailsport, a refreshed HR-V and an updated Acura Integra.
We’ve seen the Honda C-RV Trailsport. Which is a disapointment since it offers nothing more except slightly more off-road oriented tires and a few trim bits. Now we are seeing the “refreshed HR-V”. Which is quite puzzling. Especially for those looking for anything different form the 2025 model. As you can see from the photos above, they seem to look exactly the same. Inside and out. With zero “refresh” to be seen.
However, Honda still claims the 2026 model includes ” Refreshed exterior and interior styling details”.
This is the official list of the 2026 changes:
- Larger 9-inch HD touchscreen (+2-inches) (standard) Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto™ compatibility (standard)
- Wireless phone charger (standard)
- Pewter Gray 17-inch alloy wheels (LX)
- Berlina Black 18-inch alloy wheels (Sport)
- Larger machine-finished 18-inch wheels (+1-inch) (EX-L)
- Solar Reflection Metallic and striking Boost Blue Pearl paint colors
- Privacy rear glass now standard on all trims
- Gloss black tailgate badging (Sport)
- Silver steering wheel spokes (EX-L)
- Dynamic climate control knob lighting (EX-L)
- Front footwell lighting (EX-L)
The main charge is actually an $800 price increase for the base model. The total lack of a new Hybrid model is also surprising. After years on the market.
I guess Honda doesn’t care that much. With over 138,000 units sold last year, the little HR-V is more popular than ever. Even more ethanol the current generation first year on the market.
Here’s my $0.02 of guesswork on what’s going on with these choices and updates.
In addition to what you listed, Honda also made some changes to the baffling and color of the headlights/taillights, and added parking sensors to the EXL. The wheel packages were existing wheels from other markets (ZR-V). So, not a lot. The adds are really about keeping the pricing in control, and are somewhat misleading. When they say “larger screen” – they’ve actually just standardized the LX to have the same screen size as the Sport and EXL. Streamlining their supplychain. Similar with other bits n bobs. Like the “silver” steering wheel spoke – used to be gloss black. Now its silver painted plastic = save a few cents. And add Boost Blue exterior paint, but reduce the number of color options – more cost savings. Particularly when the EXL now has 5 colors all made from 3 paint applications (black, white, silver metallic). Their colors are all combinations of these, except the green. Red is removed from EXL – though Canada still gets the red and Aegean Blue. Solar Reflection (which hasn’t shown up yet) is more paint color juggling to satisfy the US tariff rules. Honda’s website says “Some trim and color combinations may be unavailable due to global supply challenges.”…meaning Trump’s tariff taxes.
I expected Honda to restructure the HRV lineup to include the hybrid this year, and the shift of all the headlight and taillights modules to LEDs is the tell, signalling that had been Honda’s intention for MY’26. Honda hybrids always get full LEDs to reduce battery consumption from lighting and extend battery charge. Six months back, Honda had many plans that are now being quietly shelved. Meanwhile, stopgaps are being set in place while they reconfigure their NAmerican production strategy since the HRV is made in Mexico. Ditto the Civic (some trims made in Canada, and Honda intended to send some to Celaya). Now, with tariffs, those hybrids would be too expensive and I now wonder if Honda will bother until the next HRV. The wild card that could drive that (ie. other than tariffs) is gasoline prices.
Still needs fog lights and driver’s seat lumbar adjustment.
