Lincoln Could Bring Back the Corsair as an Affordable EV.

Lincoln is apparently, again, working on a new EV. This time it might actually happen since it will be based on Ford’s all-new Universal EV Platform. Just like the upcoming Ford Fathom electric pickup.
While the Ford pickup is just months away, the Lincoln SUV will be at least a year or two behind. Although we might see something in the form of a concept before.
The new SUV would basically replace the Corsair in Lincoln’s lineup. The Corsair had to say goodbye last December with no replacement in sight. Sales weren’t amazing with around 25,600 sold last year. But they were steady. It is no longer offered by Lincoln since the 2026 model year is sold out. But it was starting at around $40,000. Which not a bad price. A price the new EV could be close to. Since its closely related cousin, and the Ford Fathom will start at under $29,000.
Even if it starts at around $45,000, it could be an attractive deal. Something like this would compete directly against the Cadillac Optic which starts at over $50,000. The Optic sold a bit over 12,000 units last year. And is on track for over 15,000 this year. Which is not that far from the old Corsair. A new Corsair EV could be as popular as the old gas one. Or even more.
While Ford decided on some weird new name for its new EV, it would be logical for Lincoln to use the name Corsair.
No matter what, Ford will be in a better position to make money on a new Lincoln EV than GM with the Optic. Since the main focus of the new Universal EV Platform is lower production costs.
In a couple of years, things will probably be better for EVs in the US. It could be perfect timing for a new electric SUV from Lincoln.
