Peugeot 407 Convertible

Last Updated:

Well.. Not quite yet.

This is a prototype built by Heuliez, who is already making the tops for other Peugeot convertibles.
But this time, they’re trying to adapt the Hardtop convertible concept to a 4 door car.

I’ll say it looks really nice. You can tell there is major structural modifications behind the front seat. And some of it looks a bit weird.
But I see it as a first try. Imagine the possibilities.
And a great idea…

  1. This is a great Idea. I remember the Chrysler 300 convertible concept from last year. That would be great with a hard top… if they could pull it off. But I can just imagine this thing having some really bad body flex.

  2. Yeah, that’s a great idea. I think it would be a success. You’d have an elegant four door sedan that is also a convertible, and with glass roof. And if you think about it, it’s not a crazy idea cause Peugeot is already selling the weird 1007 (the one with electric doors).

  3. I like it. I notice the bar that goes across the back part of the front seats is needed for structural integrity. It would probably need some airbags for the rear passengers because of it. I assume the 407 is FWD, so perhaps they should strengthen it along the transmission tunnel with a centre spine arrangement similar to the RX-8. It should be even easier because it’s FWD.

  4. It is a great idea.. but the necessity of the convertible hardtop has morphed the elegant styling of the 407 sedan into the awkward Pontiac G6!
