  1. Yes it was in L.A, I took the picture earlier today.
And it is the older model. But I didn’t get to look at the plates.
I would guess it is from Canada….

  2. Oh wowza…can you imagine driving all the way down I-5 in a Smart car from the Canadian border? Yikes!

  3. i thought traffic is barred from the observatory now???

there’s a couple of “dealer” smarts in LA, the smart center in venice/santa monica is still there, no? MB said they will close that center when penske opens the real smart center early 08…

and vince: when you take pictures like that, why not include the plates and maybe a nice picture with the observatory in the background???

i wish you a happy new year, keep up the good work;-)

  4. There is a Smart dealership opening on Lankershim Blvd north of Universal Studios. There are quite a few Smart cars being driven around LA…

  5. stupid looking car? i think u just made a stupid comment, period. These cars are made for cities with smaller roads and heavy traffic, it is extremely practical, u can park it anywhere, much safer not only from motorbikes but from most medium sized American cars even and its extremely economical. I can think of worst cars to drive around in a city or go shopping in

  6. Colonial Honda in Glendale sells the older-model smarts for about $40,000.

I think they are converted electric models. Colonial has an electric-car/quasi-golfcart department, through which they sell the smarts.

When I bought my car there, I asked the dealer and he explained the whole thing.

While what you say is all very true, it’s still a stupid-looking car.

  8. cant wait to see one of these in beautiful modesto california and dgive it sone of that modesto justice just like nmy buddy and i do on other foreighn cars this is a smonster noone should be ablowed to drive this around they are a danger to our sodciaty and by the yew way tjj ahe relv

  9. no. it makes a mini looks like a giant 🙂

i don’t think the smart looks stupid. maybe we are not used to seeing one here in this country. it looks cool in the european landscape.

it would work well in congested cities like new york. there is no reason to take a behemoth suv with just one driver to a shopping mall or work.

it would work if the price is around 12-15k.

  10. Really? Is there a worse car to go shopping in? Really?

Depends upon what one is shopping for. For everyday use, this car is perfect for any individual not buying 4×8 sheets of plywood.

  11. I had fun driving it for couple weeks in Europe, parking it is a dream. Good though the small town and villages it was also great. In the USA I will wait till more citizens downsize, wouldn’t want to get run over by all the SUV’s and Pickup trucks out there.

  12. exactly. Some people just don’t see the cleverness of a tiny car such as this and dont realise how difficult it is to design something like the fortwo Smart. If u are too macho or have a problem with your manhood go shopping in a Hummer for all we care. This car would be really popular in a city such as New York, where people tend to think outside the box some people live in
