Acura ADX.

Last Updated:

We already knew it was coming, but today, Acura showed the official logo of their all-new upcoming compact SUV, the ADX.

The 2025 ADX will be based on the Acura Integra/Honda Civic platform and is coming early next year. Acura isn’t saying much except it will have Turbo power. This is pretty vague since almost everything that isn’t an EV has some kind of “turbo power” these days…

However, the Acura PR people attempted to make a joke by saying “With the first-ever ADX and all-electric ZDX, the Acura lineup will have SUVs covered from A to Z”. Which isn’t very clever and even a bit sad…

The ADX is a logical step for Acur since it has no SUV under $ 45,000 right now since the RDX keeps going up in price…

I predict a decent-looking offering with Honda’s famous 1.5 Liter Turbo/CVT combo. And why not, maybe a Hybrid using the 2025 Civic Hybrid powertrain?
Why not…

  1. I think you’re correct that it’ll be the 1.5t +CVT because that’s whats already in the ZR-V (Honda) in China. The real question is whether it will have AWD at all. Acura will tune the 1.5t like the Integra with premium fuel, do some suspension stuff… blah blah & done.

I think Acura has been recalculating their place in Honda since the deal with GM fell through to co-develop a smaller BEV platform that would have likely replaced the 2.0t RDX and produced a smaller Honda BEV. This ADX, like the Integra, is a continued Hail Mary play to keep the numbers moving. Does anyone think the Acura ZDX is really viable at this point? The large platform ICEs (TLX, MDX) show a slower take rate, so they need to figure it out. My hope for Acura – they get back into the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD development biz. As for their jokes… well, have you ever met a bigger stick than Jonathan Rivers?
