Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Last Updated:

Just two more images of the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 9 EV. This time test driving in the US.

The new Ioniq 9 will be Hyundai’s version of the popular Kia EV9 3-row EV. As we know, it was supposed to be called Ionq 7 until Hyundai probably decided to work on more new EVs above the Ioniq 5. Especially a new large sedan called the EV8 as an electric follow-up to the Stinger.

From what we’ve in many recent spy shots, the new Ioniq 9 will have a much less polarizing design than the Kia EV9. It is based on the Hyundai Seven concept and will keep many design cues from the 2021 concept.

This will appeal to many who see the EV9 as just too weird or toyish. The interior shot above doesn’t show that much but we can see a pleasant atmosphere with nice-looking seats, center console, and door panels. It might just look a lot like a larger 3-row Ioniq 5, which would be just fine.

As far as specs, they will probably be very similar to the Kia EV9. And the price could even be a bit cheaper.

The Seven Concept was introduced almost 3 years ago and somehow, it took Hyundai much longer to finalize the final version, than Kia with its EV9.

The Kia EV9 is priced from $56,000 and has been more and more popular lately. The big Kia EV just entered production in the US, and will soon qualify for the full Federal Tax credit. Which should make it even more popular with buyers. So far in 2024, Kia sold over 29,000 units of the EV. The Kia EV6 has become even more popular with recent affordable leases starting at around $250 a month.

If Kia decides to offer improved deals in the EV9 sales will probably jump in 2024.

the all-new Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be unveiled in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show…

  1. I would buy one if they can get the range into the mid-300s. The real world range on the EV9 is abysmal.
