2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Another day, another Hyundai Ioniq 9 prototype caught driving around or juicing up.

The new Ioniq 9 will be Hyundai’s version of the Kia EV9. Just like the Kia, it will be a large-row electric SUV.

The name changed from Ioniq 7 to Ioniq 9 a few months ago, allowing for more models between the large SUV and the Ioniq 6 sedan.

So far the Kia EV9 has been quite a success in the US with sales going strong. I personally think the Hyundai version could even be more popular since it lacks the polarizing design of the Kia and will probably look much more mainstream and not as disturbing to many.

The new Hyundai Ioniq 9 is scheduled to debut later this year in Korea.

  2. “….could even be more popular since it lacks the polarizing design of the Kia ….” Every photo shows it covered. Only artist renderings exist and those are guesses. No one but the company knows what the final product looks like. They ok’d the KIA and didn’t care about polarizing design. Wait until it’s seen completely unwrapped before making a call like that.

    One usually assumes a family resemblance. I find the “6” to be hideous. Nothing says this will look any different. They also have the “5”. 5 isn’t as bad. Sounds silly, but 6 is closer to 9 than 5 is. If looks are evolutionary and based on the Hyundai number, 6’s looks might win.
