Honda Fit.

Last Updated:

The Honda Fit was sold in the US from 2006 to 2020, through 3 generations.

A fourth generation came out in 2020 but has never been sold in North America, since Honda decided to focus on the HR-V instead, which is really too bad as the Fit had many fans in the US. The current 4th generation is even available as a Hybrid in some markets.

Honda is not getting ready to launch a fifth generation probably at the end of next year. And of course,e it will not be coming to the US. Again, too bad. Especially for the Hybrid version.

The illustration above shows a very conservative design. One that seems it could have come out over 15 years ago, which is bad news. There would be no excuse for Honda to come up with something looking like this in 2025.

Sales of the Fit in the US never went over 80,000 units, which was back in 2008. By the time Honda killed it over here, numbers were down to 32,488 in 2020. While the HR-V went from 42,000 units in 2015 to over 122,000 last year. I guess it’s hard to make a business case for the poor old FIt over here…

This illustration shows what a more modern Fit would look like for the US market. Something that could be part of Honda’s new 0 Series EV Platform. A smaller model that could compete against new models like the next-generation Chevrolet Bolt or the new Kia EV3.
