2026 Alfa-Romeo Giulia.
Last Updated:
With a switch to the STLA large platform, it looks like the next-generation Alfa-Romeo Giulia will abandon its sedan body style…
And yes, it will look more like an SUV. It seems that after this generation, Alfa Romeo will no longer offer a sedan.
Alfa’s current CEO, Santo Ficili, has said the next generation Giulia will “adopt a new design and a new type of bodywork. A more crossover style”. That probably means something a bit awkward looking like the new DS8, or Citroen C5 X from Stelantis. While based on a smaller platform than the upcoming new Alfa-Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, these look like raised-up 4 door coupes. And not good-looking at all.
Or Alfa could also use the name Giulia for a “coupe” version of the next-generation Stelvio SUV, which is due next month.
Speaking of Giulia and Stelvio, Alfa has just mentioned they will keep offering ICE versions of their future models for a while. Alongside the new EVs. Just like they are doing with the Dodge Charger.
Sales of the Giulia sedan have been in a free fall for a while with only 2300 sold in the US last year. With 3160 the Stelvios hasn’t been doing much better.
I’m not sure what can save these cars at this point. However, a brand new generation can only help.
But no matter what, it looks like the classic Alfa-Romeo sedan is dead. At least for a while…
Sadly not good version of Next Generation
These automakers are tediously stupid. Its not that people want this body style. Its that they dont want to be cramped in and contorted getting in and out. Make a decent sedan that isn’t the size of a boat because its been pushed down another 2 inches, but is more upright so you can actual get in and out decently. And for the record, Toyota didn’t win with the Crowns because… well, they drive like Toyotas and look like Toyotas and are priced like Lexus.
