2026 Toyota RAV4 US.

Last Updated:

The new 2026 Toyota RAV4 has been caught test driving in the US. These new shots allow us to better compare it to the current model.

From the front, it looks like the proportions are of course very similar but the front-end design and hood already look very different. But the glass area seems very similar. The Crown Signia influence is very obvious from that angle.

Comparing both profiles reveals more differences. With a very different silhouette. Mostly due to the angle of the rear and. Which will be much more upright in the new version. Almost like a station wagon. Or again, more like a Crown Signia with taller windows.

The windows on the 2026 RAV4 also don’t seem to angle downward as you get closer to the windshield. Which would mean a totally new design for Toyota’s best-seller. With no shared glass parts.

Same thing from the rear of the car. It seems a bit more like a tall wagon and also seems a bit softer.

From these new photos as well as recent spy shots and illustrations, it looks like the RAV4 could end up looking like a cross between the current model and the Toyota Crown signia. Which wouldn’t be a bad idea.

As I mentioned earlier, no matter how good the new Toyota RAV4 will be, it will be competing with more and more new EVs. Which represents a growing segment. The PHEV version is rumored to offer more EV range and will hopefully be a bit less expensive. Since currently, the PHEV SE starts at almost $45,000. While the AWD Hybrid starts at just $36,000. (The Hybrid LE starts at $32,000).

  1. I suspect this RAV4 will grow by 2-3 inches in wheelbase, if you adjust and compare the tire (not wheel) diameters being the same. This is a marginally larger vehicle.

I’m hoping its better than the Crown Signia. That car is great, until you open the door or take it for a drive. All promise, no delivery.

  2. It’s nice to see Toyota finally make a the back of the greenhouse more upright. For years now, they’ve made the D-pillar rake so sharply (esp on the RX) that it really limits utility. Maybe more active/adventurous RAV4 owners wanted more space in the back for gear, car camping, etc during focus groups? The Bronco Sport has that stepped roof AND boxy design, meaning it can hold more than its short length would suggest.

  3. Toyota= 5 years? 6 years? 7 years? Let’s take our time for it even though it was due two years ago. For everyone saying no need or rush as it sells so well, look at Honda with the CRV timely redesigns that sold virtually just as many prior.
