2026 Toyota RAV4.

Last Updated:

Another day, another illustration of what the next-generation Toyota RAV4 could look like. Or is it the real thing this time?

It does look fake to me. Like one of these fake illustrations you see on YouTube trying to recreate a car’s official unveiling.

There are tons of these fake videos about Elon Musk supposedly showing some brand new tesla model no one has ever heard of. Or Akio Toyoda showing some new magical car that will “kill all EVs” etc…

Otherwise, it is actually quite realistic. And does match the many spy shots we have seen so far of the new 2026 RAV4. No matter what it is, it’s probably pretty close to the real thing.

The RAV4 is Toyota’s best-selling model and it deserves the investment of a really new generation. At least the design and interior. Since we already know it will probably use the same platform and even the same powertrains. It seems Toyota’s new 1.5 Liter hybrid system might not be ready on time for the upcoming SUV. At least at first. The PHEV RAV4 EV range is currently rated at a very decent 42 miles. Any improvement and something over 45 miles would be even better and would make it even more popular.

Something else that would make the Toyota RAV4 PHEV even more popular is to reduce the almost $10,000 current difference between the Hybrid and the PHEV trim. Which is ridiculous. Especially since a Toyota Prius PHEV is $5000 more than the Hybrid. Which is bad enough.

However, I still expect the 2026 Toyota RAV4 to switch to a standard Hybrid just like the 2025 Toyota Camry did a few months ago.

Let’s really hope the new RAV4 at least looks all-new even if it isn’t underneath…

  1. I’m waiting for the new Rav4. I currently own a 2025 Subaru Forester but so many issues with the plagued tablet, it crazy.
The new CRV will get a revised version at the end of the year for the 4th year. Decent vehicle and is my top choice but the revision is holding me back. The current Hybrid CRV version is decent but you can only tow 1,000 Lbs. I need at least 1,500 Lbs.

The only problem I see is that the crazy Toyota stealerships will mark up the price and start adding all the crap in accessories I don’t need and tinting the front windows for $500-$600.
I really hope the Rav4 are NOT all hybrids, even though you can tow around 1,750 Lbs with the current hybrid models. BUT if they do, please don’t get rid of the spare tire.
