2026 Toyota RAV-4 PHEV.

Last Updated:

The illustration above shows what a next-generation 2026 Toyota RAV4 could look like. Something like this matches what some Toyota Execs had said a few months ago about the next generation not looking that different and using a “similar recipe”.

Like the 2024 Land Cruiser or the new 2025 4Runner, back in 2018, the current generation was a huge design change from the 4th generation. Adopting a totally new design language that was previewed by the FT-AC concept earlier.

The Toyota RAV4 has become hugely popular in the US and around the world and Toyota might not want to roll the dice on the next one. Even if a more outdoorsy-looking design could be even more popular. As a matter of fact, it seems the new RAV4 could also end up being a heavy refresh of the current generation. With a redesigned front end, rear lights, and interior. Just like the 2025 Camry. Which would be tragic for those of us looking for something new to populate our streets and parking lots.

There is also a strong rumor about a hybrid-only line-up for 2026. Which has already been mentioned as a possibility by some Toyota suits. Since the Camry went all Hybrid for 2025, this would make a lot of sense.

The new RAV-4 was rumored to come out in late 2024, which obviously hasn’t happened. Toyota had nothing new at the Los Angeles Auto Show this year, unlike 2023 and 2022 where they had shown the “new” Camry and new Prius.

Something like the illustration above would still look all-new while staying pretty close to the current extremely popular generation.

Let’s hope we do get an all-new design.

  1. Like the 2025 Camry, ALL trims of Rav 4 SHOULD be electrified. Lowest trim being HYBRID. Also, the Plug-in Premium of $8,000 is just “gouging” in my opinion. $3-4,000 extra is REASONABLE.

  2. I have have had a 2007 and have a 2018 rav 4. I love the design please don’t make changes that will have ot looking like something from the jetsons. Why do ya’ll do this every year. I realize you wanna upgrade but keep it simple
