Honda 0 SUV Concept.
Last Updated:
Honda just unveiled a second prototype of an SUV based on their upcoming 0 Series EV platform, now called the “0 SUV Concept”. And not the “Space Hub” as before.
It also looks much more production-ready than the Syd Mead-looking van concept we saw last year. It now actually looks much more like what a Honda CR-V should look like in 2025. Not that futuristic but very modern. And much cleaner than anything Honda produces these days. Which is a huge step forward.
However, it still doesn’t really look like a production car. And it’s hard to see what will make it into production when the real thing goes on sale next year.
Honda isn’t saying much, except the new model will be produced in the US and will go on sale in North America first. Starting “in the 1st half of 2026”.
On a design note, the new prototype seems to have pretty narrow side windows. But especially, a very tiny rear door opening. I mean once you see it it almost looks ridiculous. It should have been a 2 door car. Honda also officially mentions that ” a spacious cabin was achieved with an outstandingly clear and unrestricted field of view with great flexibility.” I guess they didn’t notice that huge blind spot created by the extremely thin rear window and fast D-pillar. On top of the narrow side windows.
While the baffling Afeela 1, at $100,000, will obviously be priced above everything else Honda is currently selling, it’s hard to see where the new 0 Series SUV will fit in. I guess this would obviously be above the current CR-V. But that’s where the new Pilot and Prologue are. And the Prologue’s crazy current $239 a-month lease actually makes it cheaper to lease than any other Honda model.
If the new 5-seater EV is priced above the Pilot, it will compete with Acura. But again, in some states, leases will make it much cheaper.
I guess things will be a little weird for a while…
Both look good, let’s see how good the prices are. I think the Space Hub concept could still be considered as an EV MPV, a Space Odyssey lol
This SUV looks somewhat better than the sedan, but still both are pretty horrible designs imo. Honda needs to dump the zero, and get itself a hero.
